250 Years Blessed Because

Psalm 118

This is the day the LORD has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it. (118:24)

I will loudly proclaim without apology that America has been blessed by God more than any other nation in the history of the world BECAUSE of our allegiance to God. More than the nation of Israel, God has blessed these United States because of the people who have bowed to the sovereignty of God and His saving grace through Jesus Christ. Try to rewrite history if you must, but the facts are the facts.

We are one nation under God, indivisible, as long as we remain one nation under God.

That mean Church, our freedoms depend on YOU! That means you, Christian, must take up your cross and follow God into the voting booth. Many of you must follow God into the halls of justice, into Congress, into the Senate, into the governors’ offices, and into the Oval Office.

This is not the time to sit back and watch the wrath of God fall on this nation because we have abandoned Him. Stand up for the truth. Stand strong. Use your voice loud and clear. Use your vote. Use you dollars. Use your pulpits.

People say no great nation has lasted more than 200 years before it crumbles. Well, we’ve racked up 250 years, and I am convinced we have 250 more years in us if we can stay submissive to the authority of Almighty God.

The LORD is for me; I will not be afraid. What can a mere mortal do to me? (vs 26)

So come on Church. Come on Christian. Come on America. It is true that if God is for us, who can be against us? (from Romans 8:31)

May God bless you. May God bless America because of you.

Happy 250th! Here’s to 250 more!

    Hi, Connie!

I like that you’re keeping comments up for dialogue on this.

I wanted to weigh in on the element about the United States being “blessed by God more than any other nation in the history of the world” [italics added]. Echoing what Kimberly has been saying, I really don’t see a Scriptural precedent for this — even as you are making this statement as a matter of fact rather than opinion. The word “blessed” is open to interpretation to begin with, so “blessed… more than any other nation” feels very subjective. I’m not clear on how you’re measuring this, but it does read as extrabiblical.

Speaking from my own experience, I think it can be very easy and comfortable to dichotomize on the basis of “culture” and “church,” while failing to assess how cultural mores have leached into church practices and expressions. Church worship in the United States look different than practices in Asia or Africa. Some of these differences may seem unimportant, as we are all one in the body of Christ. However, I do think it’s worthwhile to examine when our culture becomes the bedrock of our Christian understanding (i.e., in terms of insisting that America has demonstrated the strongest allegiance to God, in spite of our nation’s history of iniquity), rather than our Christian understanding being the force that shapes our interpretation of culture.

No disagreement to the idea that we are all imperfect and we all fall short; I’m just struggling with your staunch argument that America has been blessed above all nations, and I’m concerned about the claim that we’re founded on biblical principles when so much of our history is written in bloodshed.

    Facts:

Romania, Papua New Guinea and Timor Leste – over 99 % are Christian
Armenia was the First Nation in the world to adopt Christianity as a state religion in 301 AD.
Only 65 % in the US are Christian

    Regarding the blessing –
Switzerland is most often ranked the freest country in the world
    Luxembourg leads in individual wealth

    Regarding US history –
Lynchings, forced removal, greed, violence and the love of money … inequity and racism… not exactly the kinds of things that the Bible says God wants to bless.

Yes, facts matter. Thank you for pointing these out. The fact is, none of these nations are untouched by the benefits of God’s blessing on America. The great thing about this nation is its willingness to send our troops, young men and women to fight on foreign soil for the cause of freedom. This nation has given financial aid to these nations, helped grow industries, and invested in the people of these nations. These nations did not achieve these things on their own. And I believe they would be the first to say that.

But I think we’ve chased this rabbit trail far too long. If you read my post, the point is that we Christians are the answer to the unrest in our country. I have no problem saying we as a nation are in trouble, have gotten so far from God that we are in danger of experiencing what the nation of Israel experienced in the Old Testament when God gave them over to the desires of their hearts, when they turned from Him and chased their own desires and ended up receiving God’s just judgment.

I will continue to say, wake up, Church. We have a mission. Let’s not lose the war because we didn’t fight. We all have a part to play, to live Jesus, speak of Jesus, stand up for truth, and not back down. However you think we got here, the time is now to come together to be the Church God intends us to be.

I gladly join with you as we further the cause of Christ in 2026.

This is the day the Lord has made! And it is good to rejoice and be glad in it:)
But although nationalism may be politically correct under the current administration… it’s also idolatry.
So I guess I’ll just wish you well on this day He has made.. and agree to disagree:)

Thank you for your comments, Kimberly. And yes, I will agree to disagree. If you can’t see that this great nation is and has been the most blessed by God of any nation in history, we are certainly coming from different perspectives. And that’s ok. This is America!
I never said the people here have been perfect, which is God’s standard. We are a sinful bunch. But as a nation founded on the principles of Christianity, and a people who have upheld those principles albeit imperfectly, I will not hesitate to make the connection for our blessings. I’m thankful that, as you say, this administration has given the American people permission to celebrate once again rather than the political correctness of being ashamed of our history as in past administrations. But I, along with millions recognize the gift of our freedoms come from God Almighty. Even the freedom to agree to disagree! 🙂
Thank you again for commenting. We can both rejoice in this day the Lord has made!

        Absolutely:)

And yeah.. we are definitely coming from different places if you feel comfortable lifting up the name of a country as most blessed… I’ll just stick to lifting up the name of the Lord:)

        Best.

In questioning whether or not the US was founded on Christian principles I wasn’t trying to show that the people here aren’t “ perfect.” I think it goes without saying that no one is.

( And yes I am glad you are open to freedom of speech … it was a terrible and horrific day when Charlie Kirk , a champion of freedom of speech and Christianity was murdered … my daughter and I mourned the loss for days… even though we could not prayerfully or scripturally agree with everything he had said.)

My disagreement here, stems from the discrepancy of foundational American principles which were NOT Scriptural. For instance, the Word says to not kill.. and yet so many of my ancestors were slaughtered for land and resource acquisition..and this in the name of Christianity. Jesus said not to pursue the love of money and yet the love of resources, rather than the love of another, is the very reason that this happened.. and continues to happen. These principles are not Christian and are bearing bad fruit.
Additionally, the Word itself says that the Lord will do nothing without speaking first through his prophets… and yet although we see the rise and fall of kingdoms prophesied in Daniel, there is absolutely no place in Scripture which indicates that there will be a coming nation lifted above all others, blessed above all others because of their adherence to what you seem to think are godly principles. ( the US is not in there) Israel was given many promises like this, but we don’t see an altogether new country as in the US being prophesied to come as these most blessed. And yet many, like yourself, proclaim this and Manifest Destiny which is a type of old school patriotism, which likes to season things that are not of God with Bible verses.

And no. I’m not a patriot. My allegiance is to the Kingdom of God. And sister, this is not it. I’m not politically conservative or politically liberal but rather a conservative Christian… which means.. that if any philosophy ( and patriotism is just that) lifts its head above Scripture… dares to arrogantly praise something instead of Jesus… then I hope to not blindly follow it although my Christian peers such as yourself might.

        Still agree to disagree? 🙂
